Deena Ball

Deena S. Ball is a nationally reknown landscape painter, known for her innovative use of watercolors in conbination with textured ground and specialized surfaces. The majority of her work is painted Plein Air or derived from sketches and observations while she is immersed in nature. She strives to create simple expressive paintings inspired by nature, captuing a moment in time and striiking an emotional chord with the viewer. After thirty five years of painting in the beautiful Brandywine Valley of Pennsylvania, she is excited to return to painting the mountains and shore of Maine. She holds a BA in Art History and Studio Art from Colby College in Waterville, Maine and continued her studies at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and Tyler School of Art Her paintings work have been exhibited throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region and can be found in Watercolor Artist and several annual publications of Splash. Recent exhibitions are Back to Nature 2021, A Landscape Painter’s Invitational in Wayne, PA , Devon Horse Show Art Gallery- Devon, PA , New England Watercolor Society Gallery Show- Plymouth, MA , Great American Paint In - Cero Gallery, Florida - online and the American Impressionist Society’s Member Exhibition- online. Deena is an active teaching artist for both adults and children. She is regularily invited to conduct workshops and presentations for artists organizations. Recent presentations have been for Philadelphia Watercolor Society, Onodaga Art Society and Salem County Art Society. She has been teaching workshops and classes on zoom for RiverArts in Maryland, Mendocino Art Center in California, Community Art Center and Wayne Art Center in Pennsylvania and Artascope in Maine. Her studio, Ball Point Graphics started an online mentorship program and hybrid studio classes. Deena is a past president of the Philadelphia Water Color Society and the co-founder and Artistic Director of the non-profit, LandArt Events which organizes Farm to Table Plein Air. She has worked to strenghten the ties between artists, provide opportunities for artists and opportunities for the public to interact with the artistic community. Deena is a signature member of Philadelphia Watercolor Society, Baltimore Watercolor Society, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society and is a Pennsylvania Guild Master Craftsman.
