My name is Sheri Hume and I am an artist from Portland, Maine. My work is an instinctive form of interpretative communication. It is through this expression that I hope to have an emotional impact on others.
Art is something that I do because I enjoy creating my interpretation or vision. Art for me is a personal journey that is forever being cultivated. It is a form of escape and a source of therapy. I believe art is a way to have a conversation with others, and a way to express my own evolving images. I enjoy working with color and in different mediums, including oils, watercolors, acrylic, colored pencils and pastels. I work from real life subjects, photos, memories, and my own feelings and imagination. I hope you enjoy my art as much as I did creating it.
I was born in Portland Maine. Throughout my adolescence and my time in high school I attended private art lessons with Ester Barney. After graduating from Deering High School, I attended the Portland School of Art, now called MECA, or Maine College of Art. I studied silversmithing, jewelry, and painting. I operated a successful one person silver jewelry design and creation venture through the 1990s. I am happily married to my husband John, and have two wonderful sons.
I have returned to my love of painting and drawing, and I am currently producing and selling my works in the Southern Maine area.
